The G20 Youth Summit 2016 (hereinafter referred to as Y20) will be held in Beijing and Shanghai from July 31st to August 6th. As one of the outreach programs of G20, this year’s Y20 of will be a platform to exchange ideas on global governance and youth problems, contributing to an “Action-oriented, Public-oriented, World-oriented” approach with youth effort. Therefore, 2016Y20 is themed as “Innovation and Partnership for an Inclusive World”.

China, the host country of this Summit, is located in the Eastern Asia. It is the third largest country, the most populous country and the second largest economy in the world. Since China’s Reform and Opening-up, the living standards of Chinese people have improved significantly. Through effective poverty reduction measures, China realized the goal of halving the population living in absolute poverty and hunger, and is the only country in the world that has realized the Millennium Development Goal of “reducing extreme poverty by half” ahead of schedule. China plays a unique role in international affairs, contributing to safeguarding world peace, promoting prosperity and development worldwide, and maintaining the legitimate interests of developing countries. China is transforming methods of development by reforms and innovation, and promoting economic growth and social progress, to help Chinese young people realize their dreams. As a synonym of creative spirit, youth has become the source of hope and strength for the era of innovation.

Beijing is the capital, and also the political, cultural and international exchange and technological innovation center of China. Beijing is the largest base for scientific and technological research, and one of the most developed regions of education in China. As ancient capital of six dynasties and the city with the largest number of World Heritage sites, Beijing is famous for its three thousand years of history.

Shanghai is the largest harbor city, economic center, as well as the most modern and stylish cosmopolitan city of China. Its prosperity is inseparable from its tolerance for diversity and multi-culturalism. Chinese and Western cultures blend here, creating the brilliant “Shanghai culture.” Shanghai is one of the world’s major economic, financial, trade and shipping centers. Education, cultural industry and high-tech industry are well developed here.

2016Y20 is guided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People’s Republic of China, sponsored by the China Youth Federation, and organized by Fudan University. The All China Youth Federation is the joint organization of China’s various youth groups.
