Youth 20 China 2016 in Shanghai

On the morning of July 27, the Youth 20 China 2016 (Y20) opened in Shanghai. Vice president of All-China Youth Federation, Zhou Changkui, Vice chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee, Xu Yibo, Chancellor of Fudan University, Wei Xiaopeng, and President of Fudan University, Xu Ningsheng attended the opening ceremony.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Youth Innovation for Our Shared Vision”. Over 100 youth delegates aged from 18 to 30 from the Group 20 (G20) member countries, guest countries, and international organizations attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Y20 delegates will undertake thorough discussion on topics of “poverty elimination and joint development”, “entrepreneurship and creative thinking”, “green life and sustainability”, “social justice and equal opportunities”, and “partnership and global governance”. Y20 China Communiqué, as the Y20 China outcome, will be submitted to the Organizing Committee of G20 2016.

As one of the outreach programs of the G20 Summit, the Y20 meetings have been held in Canada, Russia, Australia and Turkey since 2010. China, the host country of 2016 G20 Summit, hosted this year’s Y20 meeting in Beijing and Shanghai from July 24 to 30. The event is hosted by All-China Youth Federation, and sponsored by Fudan University. In addition to the meetings, the delegates will also visit government departments and social agencies, meet Chinese youth entrepreneurs and go on cultural tours in the two cities.
